Sea Cadets

Once you've earned the right to wear a uniform and have learned how to salute properly, you advance into the rank of apprentice cadet.  You are tasked with book learning and practical exercises in US Navy History, Personal Development, Emergency Care and procedures and leadership.  As you master each of these topics, you advance in rank and rate and can achieve Petty Officer status among other things!  Those who wish to attend advance trainings can go to other educational opportunites around the country specifically tailored for our young sailors.

When you first join the unit, you really don't have any idea what to expect or how to act in a unit such as ours.  You are now a "boot recruit".  We will guide you as you chart your course towards a new heading and assist you in learning the things you'll need to know to get there.  Uniform Care, Proper Appearance, Hygiene, Attitude and knowing how to act as a sailor are important things you'll learn as a new recruit.  Once you complete your assigned tasks you'll move up in rank and have greater opportunities placed in your path allowing you to go where others have gone before you!

If you complete coursework assignments, stay on course and keep your compass pointed in a northerly direction and can keep your ship afloat, you might earn the honor of being a squad leader or even a Petty Officer in the USNCC and USNLCC.  These leadership roles carry a great deal of responsibility and are only given to persons who exemplify what a true sailor is and are expected to be the finest examples to their shipmates of how to act and portray themselves within the USNCC and USNLCC organization.  These folks are the cream of the crop and earn the right to wear the appropriate rank and insignia on their uniforms.
