Training Expectations

Cadets enter their "enlistment" as new recruits.  They are recognized as having very little previous knowledge about this program and have many anxieties and apprehensions to overcome.  Once they are "sworn in" they will be placed on a 90 day training track outlined below.

Sea Cadets
Sea Cadets
0 - 30 Days       Recruit

The first 30 days of enlistment Sea Cadets are issued their very first uniforms- USNCC and USNLCC Physical Training Gear.  They will be taught how to wear the uniform properly and what to expect during the course of their enrollment.  Cadets are assigned to Squads and learn who their Chain of Command contacts are and what to do when they "board ship".

Once they are issued uniforms and they have a basic knowledge of where to go and how to act, they are tasked with learning the USNCC and USNLCC Promise, The Pledge of Allegiance and the core values of the US Navy- Honor, Courage and Commitment.  They learn the Chain of Command and Quarterdeck Procedures (how to properly come aboard ship) and how to earn the respect of their shipmates and officers.  They learn basic military requirements such as proper haircut, shiny boots and the importance of a neat appearance.

They learn how to wash and iron their uniforms, wear the uniform properly and exhibit proper honors and courtesies while in uniform.

30 - 60 Days   Apprentice Cadet

Having successfully completed their first 30 days of service!

Boot Recruits no longer, they are referred to as "apprentices', striving towards their next 30 days of training.  This period they will learn the Star Spangled Banner; what a Plan of the Day and Uniform of the Day are; how to keep track of time military style; basic Flag Ettiquette and Navy Terminology.  They should know how to salute superiors and use their chain of command regularly, keeping themselves looking and acting like the sailor they are striving to become!

Sea Cadets
60 - 90 Days      League Cadet

Once cadets have completeed their 60 days of enlistment, they move into the final phase of their "recruit training" as "leaguers".  By now they know how to wear a uniform properly, have learned most of the military honors and courtesies they are expected to perform and are ready to fine tune their skills.

The final 90 days of their "mini boot camp" they learn birthdays of the US Navy and Marine Corps; Military Ranks and Rates; Sailors Creed; Anchors Aweigh, their 11 General Orders and US Navy History.  They are now ready to enter the US Navy League Corps as a full fleged cadet and are able to participate and perform expertly as a US Navy League Cadet !!  Once completing their 90 day training, they are allowed to attend advanced trainings and move up the ranks, completing coursework online from the USNLCC Syllabus and other educational materials.
