July Events 2014

So far we've had a great summer! Our unit saw fireworks at the Lake Pleasant Marina (and got to see what an AZ monsoon is like at the lake!), got to see the Memorial Service for the fallen 19 Granite Mountain Hot Shots in Prescott, saw the 4th of July Celebration parade in Prescott (and were drenched when a passing rain squall came through). Sounds like we've spent a great deal of time getting wet this summer!! Well, here's another chance to get wet again- our unit is hosting a basic firemanship course this summer on July 19th from 1000-until 1500. The cost is $15 and will enable you not only to get wet, but also to learn some really cool things like:

- how to roll hose the FireFighters way

- what water hammer is and how to prevent it

- how to properly "tag" a hydrant

- how long firehose is and what you can do with it

- how to operate a firehose

- what the difference between a fog stream and straight stream are and how to use both of

them appropriately

- many other basic firemanship skills!!!
